DMAT introduction
A Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) is a group of medical, administrative, and logistical professionals with the ability to quickly move into a disaster area and provide medical care and clinical support. DMATs can rapidly deploy for any type of disaster that requires a medical response beyond the capabilities of the local system where the medical infrastructure has been compromised, overwhelmed or has a reasonable suspicion that it may be. A DMAT functions as a deployable paramilitary unit under the direction of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.

Our “Tennessee One (TN-1)” team is one of many in the United States affiliated with the National Disaster Medical System, which is a component of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations in the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

TN-1 DMAT about us
The Tennessee-1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team is a state wide team   and also includes the Tri-State region surrounding Chattanooga. TN-1 DMAT was founded in June 2002. Team employees receive job classifications from and are directed by the Federal Government; the fixed base of operations (BoO) and warehouse is located in the greater Chattanooga area.

TN-1 DMAT remains focused on recruitment of stellar personnel and in providing top notch training to its members. We have deployed on many missions in the United States and abroad having treated thousands of disaster medicine patients and saved many lives. All our team employees take great pride in serving our Country and sharing our time and talents in service to our fellow man.
